Three features: 'Grease' is a film adaptation of the zippy smash hit translation from the Broadway musical tribute to the fabulous 1950s. As a new school year begins, wholesome Australian exchange student Sandy (pop star Olivia Newton-John) and duck-tailed, leather-jacketed Danny (John Travolta) parlay their summertime romance .. Fresh from Saturday Night Fever, John Travolta was the biggest movie star in the world when he teamed with Olivia Newton-John to help turn one of Broadway's biggest ever hits into one of Hollywood's most successful musicals. This film sets itself the peculiar task of trying to evoke nostalgia for a time before most of its audience would have been born — 1950s America — where Rydell High School is the setting for a rather slender tale of teenage love and pre-Vietnam War innocence. Stranger still, it succeeds in the task, thanks to some toe-tapping numbers, sprightly hoofing and slick performances, not least by Stockard Channing as the most unruly teenager in town.
Amiable 'period' musical for teenagers: a highly fashionable exploitation of the new star John Travolta, its commercialism was undeniable, and it carefully built in appeal to older age groups.
"...A life that is all its own....Loaded with the kind of talent and exuberance you don't often find very far from a musical stage..."
Supremely entertaining musical packed with great performances and great songs. Even if you are not a fan of musicals you should give this a go - it's probably the best one ever made. P.s. the reviewer on the bottom of this page is clearly a repressed homosexual!!!
This not just an awesome musical it is an awesome film aswell, very funny, well acted, good direction. As for the musical side every song is great and of course a few are classics, that you won't get out of your head for a while and if your like me when Grease Lightning and a couple of others come on you won't be able to stop yourself getting up and dancing around the house. This comes highly recommended watch it now.
This is a really good film, fairly good for all the family. I liked it when I watched it 25 years ago and enjoyed it just as much watching again.
Many good songs and a good story.

Excellent old time musical classic. One of my very best favs. But then I'm biased. It would be hard to beat for an all round film, acting singing, dancing, and a good story line too!! Great stuff.

This film has it all, comedy, romance, music, good looking guys and gals & mystery, everything you need for a great night's veiwing. To be honest, if anyone hasn't seen this at least once, I would be surprised! An all time classic that never grows old, and will forever hold a piece of history of american high school.
If you haven't watched this, shame on you!
If you didn't watch this film as a kid then you missed out. but be careful, because some tit says you might turn gay if you watch it now!
Not really much to say apart from what you already know: Jonh Travolta and Olivia Newton-John star in this 50's style musical. With catchy songs, funny lyrics and an all-around good vibe, you should definitely watch it, especially if you're a musical fan (in that case, you probably watched it already)
Needs no introduction. This movie was requested by my wife so it's not really my taste, but once we sat down to watch I realised what a great film it is. If you would like a trip down memory lane then rent this film - you won't be disapointed. Music of the era and attitude in abundance. Well worth it!
What is there left to be said about this film? If you don?t already know how good it is either you are very very young or you?ve been on another planet! Will leave you with a big smile and your heart singing and dancing all day?
Ground breaking and a musical sensation.
Teaches us to think young again and brings us closer to our youth than any other film.
Absolutely one of the best movies of all time!
A must see film!
Musically brilliant.
One of my favourites!
