OK if you don't like Mr Portillo then this will not be your cup of tea. But if you like culture and history he does this well I have currently watched the first disc of the set of 4 and is filmed is some wonderful locations and given some good and interesting historical points. You don't have to like or even understand about the rail network, I for one don't. But it does help you understand how important the rail network was and still is to the economy of the country. Although this is a series on the BBC i do feel they have done well to keep it from a train enthusiast to people who just like to learn more about the past and how the rail network became. The first disc, travels from Liverpool to Scarborough and takes in some lovely views of our own country. Really like and I can really cope that Mr Portillo is the narrator he does take in the wonders of our history well.- Was this review helpful to you?
