The Green Lantern shines dimly.....
By CheshireMatt (84 reviews) from Cheshire , 03 Dec 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
The Green Lantern tells the story of how Hal Gordon, unreliable test pilot, becomes the first human to be chosen as a Lantern - the universal corps trusted to guard the various galaxies. The story though is thinly written with limited information on the back story of how the Green Lantern's came to be and what threat awaits them. It all seemed a bit rushed and the story follows the usual pattern - ordinary guy gets chosen to be someone special, his father has died when he was young in tragic circumstances and so he has spent his life trying to live up to expectation. It follows the same path as many superhero films and suffers by comparison. The cast is a good one with support from Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong and Tim Robbins but they have all made much better films. Ryan Reynolds does a reasonable job as the ordinary joe thinking at first it was cool to be able to fly before too long I was wishing I could fly too.........away from the rest of the movie.- Was this review helpful to you?

(232)Disappointing, to say the least..
By ABooker91 (2 reviews) , 18 Apr 2013I'm a fan of both Marvel and DC and comparing every single other Superhero film to date (including the awful Daredevil) this is the worst one. It feels awfully rushed and has had many corners cut. The acting could of been so much more, yet it fall short and the film as a whole follows a droll cliche driven atmosphere. I was expecting much more and i hope that when 'The Justice League' comes out there is a much needed remake.- Was this review helpful to you?

Worse than the first Hulk movie.
By a customer , 12 Mar 2013Hated this film with a passion. Poor acting, poor story, poor adaptation overall. I recommend reading the comics and waiting for a significantly improved remake to be released before the 2015 Justice League film. The only real good thing about it was Blake Lively's face. I like Ryan Reynolds but he was never meant to take on the role of a superhero. Especially not Hal Jordan. Watch it at your own risk but don't expect to be amazed.- Was this review helpful to you?
