Greenfingers goes where Lucky Break feared to tread — into the prison system to deliver a heart-warming tale of redemption. Clive Owen stars as the no-hope convict who's transferred to an open prison. An incident with a packet of African violet seeds means he's commanded by the governor to create a garden. His patch attracts the attention of a gardening guru (Helen Mirren) and soon Owen's team are doing out-reach work and entering the Hampton Court Palace show. Based on a true story, this is desperately sweet, particularly with regard the burgeoning romance between Owen and Natasha Little as Mirren's daughter. The end result is hardly earth-shattering, but at least it's more entertaining than Ground Force.

A gentle film with the fab Helen Mirren in it. Reminds me a bit of Calendar Girls. Clive Owen is about as characterful as a rubber band, but I guess he is nice to look at!
Just what the UK film industry should be doing - quality actors doing quality work for an intelligent audience. Would have been 5 stars but for a few weak points in the script. Enjoy !
