Scottish director Bill Forsyth (LOCAL HERO) imbues this small, heartfelt, and .. Read more

i enjoyed this. did anyone else think the teenagers were acting like kids, the adults were acting like teenagers and the kids were acting like adults? lol.
Here we have an absolutely delightful film that transports you back to your teenage years with an uncanny accuracy. It's full of quirky characters and situations that can't help but make you smile. John Gordon-Sinclair is perfect as Gregory and the rest of the cast supports him admirably. Full of some very funny lines, you'll want to see it more than once. No other film director apart from perhaps Jacques Tati can make films so charming and the humour so wonderfully nonchalant as Bill Forsyth. Rent it! it?s a gem. 10 - 10
The thing which strikes me after not having seen GG for quite a few years and watching it again is that its extremely unusual. The naturalistic use of dialogue and introduction of character without the use of typical Hollywood devices makes you feel more like you are in the film, as one of the characters, and not being taken for stupid. It makes you feel more involved.
Forgive the terrible hair and the lack of 'beautiful people': this is a sweet, scottish love story, which is touching and funny and great.

Dated, Corny, poor storyline, acting is AWFUL...need I say anymore?
A great film, despite what must have been a very small budget. The film works because of the characters. They are entertaining and well defined. Presented through great acting, they keep you interested in the film.
The plot isn't momentus, but it doesn't need to be. As another reviewer suggested, whilst the teenagers are teenagers, the adults and kids swap roles. Also, as suggested by another reviewer, the film does end in a surprisingly swift fashion. I was expecting some more explanation.
I found this film very easy to watch and enjoyed watching Gregory as he stumbled for words when trying to chat up the girls. Probably, I recognised my own behaviour when I was of that age.
I have seen the film when I was younger, but this time, my children loved it too. I was disapointed that sub titles were not available on this film. I would be glad to provide them for future viewers who are hard of hearing.
if you have kids in their teens like me they will still find this funny.
Fantastic. I saw this years ago and couldn't resist the chance to watch it again. The script is as tight as ever and the humour hasn't aged at all. If you want a pleasant hour and a half watching some wry comedy then you can't really do better than this.
What a step back in time this was for me - black & white skirts, bad hair, white stilettoes. And now watching with the knowledge that Clare Grogan always had the left side of her face hidden after a bad incident two weeks previous. I really enjoyed watching this film again, such a simple plot & script, the naivety of young love, and a reminder of life back in the early eighties.
