Oh, I'm so old!!

I was a bit concerned that after seeing this the first time it came out I was wanting to watch it again! But I ordered it anyway.

I get home from work, and the wife says "What you renting this c@&p for?". So after being unable to explain, I watched it.......Well, blow me. I, at 31, felt what I did when I was 13. Horror and laughter. I have to go now and find my Gremlins Sticker book!

superb..................

this dvd is superb. Gremlins is the story of an inventor, who whilst peddling his wares in Chinatown at Christmas time comes across a shop, and decides to buy a present for his son. The present that he buys is a Mogwai, an incredibly cute little creature to give his son as a pet. He is warned to follow three rules regarding the Mogwai, these being:

1) Don't get the Mogwai wet

2) Don't expose the Mogwai to light, especially sunlight

3) Most importantly don't feed it after midnight

The Mogwai is taken home to his family, and the son - Billy immediately loves the creature and calls him Gizmo.

Billy manages to break all the rules, therefore spawning little Mogwai's, which when inadvertently fed after midnight, metamorphasise into the gremlins, creating havoc across town.

BRIGHT LIGHT!

This is a gleefully mischievous movie, in which director Joe Dante envisages a perfect American small town, then introduces malicious Gremlins into the mix and has them wreck everything. It's hard not to enjoy. Before that, however, we're introduced to Gizmo, a delightful and charming furry creature known as a Mogwai which a travelling salesman buys his teenage son Billy for christmas. The owner of the shop who sold him, an elderly chinese gentlemen, issues strict instructions - No food after midnight, never get them wet, keep them out of bright light and so on, which the salesman passes on to his son in a careless manner - you know what happens next, right? Billy is an engaging central character, but the real star of the show is Gizmo, who is almost impossibly cute. Dante balances the 'awww!' factor with some genuinely repulsive Gremlins, who introduce a very dark edge and stop this from becoming just another sickly sweet teen-comedy. The sequel is also great, so if you like this, be sure to follow it up!

hi. mi name is charly and i am 13. usually i dnt like old peoples films but my mum said that this is good so i watched it and it was one of the best films i have ever seen. i always watch it now. but the only thing i dnt like is that now i am petrified of furbies lolxxx

Quite fun family film

I rented this for the kids and although I saw it years ago it still struck me as quite comical in places. Quite fun family entertainment.

this is a good kids film was good when it came out watched it again but for me just not the same

A funny classsic

If you like humour mixed in with horror then you'll love this film. A son is given a gremlin (Gizmo) by his father, he then disobeys the instructions and havoc is unleashed in the form of many evil gremlins lose in the boy's local town The only let down is Gizmo the outrageously sickly 'sweet' gremlin. The real humour is in the human like behaviour of the evil gremlins (especially the pub scene). Despite having a sugary charcter called Gizmo in, it is still a comic classic suitable for the fun loving and the violence loving fans. A must see!!!!!

The person from Leicester who gave this 2 stars, if you had to hear about gremlins your knowledge of films is so low you've no right to pass judgement on this movie. To cut a long story short, little nasty green creatures ruin christmas in a small town.
