surprisingly goodBy BigDev (75 reviews) from Oldham , 17 Feb 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]If you like the genre of the underdogs who make good then this is the film for you. OK, the acting isn't great and the storyline is simple and obvious, but if you can forget that then what you get is an enjoyable, simple film

Very good filmBy aaronqwertyuiop (3 reviews) , 13 Jul 2013Surprisingly a very good film. My expectations for this film were not set high but surprisingly it was a very good film.
Awful AwfulBy uniqueness (95 reviews) from Glasgow , 31 Oct 2012Bit of a dull, dreary film that trys to draw interst from people who are into Gang Culture. But this is no 'Menace to Society'. It's a tame pretty squalid version of that with American Football thrown in.
Theres very little plot to this other than a guy ends up in Juvy hall and ends up playing Grid Iron. Big Deal
One of those feel good moviesBy Littlealfie (16 reviews) from Reading, UK , 27 Feb 2012Another feel good movie. Bad boys made good through sport - it's getting to be a bit of a cliche but what the hell it does make a good story.
Formulaic - PredictableBy a customer , 31 Dec 2011Let me first off say I did not hate this film. The problem is that regardless of how inspiring the real story is, we have seen this before. Many, many, many times.
One teacher comes to a bad area/school and through a lot of positive talk inspires his deliquent youngsters to excel. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson says 'Just believe in yourself!' about several dozen times.
As we have seen this all before, you can imagine how predictable the story can be. You can see where the movie is going before it does.
If you liked Coach Carter, Any Given Sunday etc...then you may enjoy this film. If you saw those films and can recognize the patterns in story-telling you will find it as formulaic as what I did.
A good film...By a customer from Exeter, England , 12 Dec 2011... but this type of feel good uplifting film has been done so many times!
Down and outs and then someone comes and they start to get better, a few slip ups on the way but then they succeed.
It is a good watch though, based on a true story - defo worth a watch
