    surprisingly good

If you like the genre of the underdogs who make good then this is the film for you. OK, the acting isn't great and the storyline is simple and obvious, but if you can forget that then what you get is an enjoyable, simple film

    A Diamond in the Rough

I rented this on the basis of Wayne Johnson (the Rock) being in it, having enjoyed his previous films as uncomplicated entertainment. I didn't expect such a well acted & written story that managed to tell the old underdog tale in a way almost devoid of the usual US schmaltz. Johnson is getting better with each film he puts out, and the rest of the cast remain believable without being overly stereotypical.

Entertaining and even thoughtful, and well worth a look.

    Great Film

Well acted and a great script keeps you hooked. Plenty of sport to keep sport fans hooked but a good stoyline of the troubles of urban America. Search this little gem out.

    Gridiron gang

I was pleasantly suprised by this film. I'm not a big fan of american football but have enjoyed the rocks film so far so took a punt. Good story with very good acting, glad to see the rock hasn't gone down the hulk hogan route .... yet!

    My husband watched it!

I have no idea what this film was about or if my husband enjoyed it. He hasn't mentioned it, so I presume he thought it mediocre.

Best acting from the rock Yet.

This is definately the best film the rock has been in. This time its not him doing all the action parts. He actually has to act and he does a great job.

Based on a true story. It makes you wonder why we cant incorperate some of these principles in the UK.

Definately would recommend this to people who enjoy the underdog beats the odds kind of film. (reminded me of the Mean Machine though)!!!!!!

    Truly Inspirational

We've all seen the feel good sports films where the underdogs beat the odds to become champions. Well this is the same sort of thing with one difference, Gridiron gang is not only feel good, but also very inspirational. The fact that it is a true story only adds to the fact that it's a well written film with some superb performances.

So forget you Coach Carter, and your mighty ducks, this blows them all away.

Watch this film, you will love it.

    Brilliant

Brilliant movie, keeps you entertained from the first minute to the last. Full of comedy, and action. I though the plot was very good, great film.

    Nothing new..

I have to disagree with some of the other reviews here. There was very little new in this film (other than the Rock not holding some form of semi-automatic weapon). Yes, the fact that this was based on a true story was very heartening, but the subject matter had been covered in countless other films. There was nothing here to make Johnson's character anything other than sickly sweet, there was no dramatic depth and the film just ambled along in a very predictable manner. All in all a mildly entertaining, non-thinker of a film that will not stick in the memory for too long.

    The Rock.......Rocks

I watched this film not knowing anything about it. Looked at the title and thought......Longest Yard rip-off. Talk about judging a book by it's cover and getting it wrong. This film was excellent, it had emotion, great acting and a real storyline. Surely when you look at the cast and the title nobody saw that coming. Dwayne Johnson who shall from this point forward never be referred to as The Rock again was superb, even Xzibit was shockingly good. Yes it is still full of sports movie cliches and is predictable, however it has enough difference in the story to make it better than the rest of em in the last few years.
