Narrated in flashback by Richard Harris, this outdoor adventure combines an acute sense of place, a sure understanding of childhood and a pronounced empathy with the animal kingdom. Bryan Brown is the nominal lead, as a hunter seeking the son kidnapped by a vengeful grizzly. But the real star is Ali Oop, a bear with a sense of justice to match her maternal determination, whose rapport with young Daniel Clark is a wonder to behold. Director Stewart Raffill occasionally allows the pace to slacken, but the wolf attack and the showdown with trapper Oliver Tobias add excitement to the furry feel-good.
"...The scenes with the bears are very convincing....It's a pretty entertaining trip for the whole family..."
My son who is 6 watched this with me and we thought it was a good film.
Had a good storyline and it shows the bears in a real good light and the story made you think about the situation which we talked about after the film.
