A nihilistically philosophical hit man (John Cusack) reluctantly accepts an assignment in Detroit, coinciding with his 10-year high school reunion in the ritzy suburb of Grosse Point, Michigan. While in town, he tries to patch things up with the girlfriend (Minnie Driver) he abandoned on prom night, avoid being killed by an over-zealous competitor's henchmen, and survive his surreal homecoming. The film is a bullet-ridden, darkly comedic tale of self-discovery from star-writer-producer Cusack.

Named in tribute to John Boorman's cult thriller Point Blank, this uneasy black comedy only really picks up speed halfway into the story. A hitman (John Cusack) returns to his home town for a high-school reunion and another assassination, only to find conventional free-marketeers just as ruthless as he is. He also bumps into an old flame (Minnie Driver) who he jilted on prom night ten years before. George Armitage's direction only really goes into overdrive for the final stretch, but the actors, including Dan Aykroyd and Joan Cusack, are really superior.

John Cusack is the epitome of cool; Minnie Driver, Joan Cusack, Alan Arkin and Dan Akroyd have NEVER been better. If you like your movies twisted and unusual - you know, a bit Cusack-y - this is the film that, when you watch it again in 20 years, you'll dispair that they don't make them like this any more.
It's always got a place in my otherwise ever-changing Top 5 Movies Of All Time.
Although I'll admit that this film does have a few flaws, there's nothing that can't be overcome by just letting the film take you along for the ride!
The script contains some amazingly quotable (and obscene!) dialogue and it's delivered with pitch-perfect precision by the whole cast. Aykroyd is particularly enjoyable and shows some of the sparkle that made him so great in 'Ghostbusters' and 'The Blues Brothers' and shows that he really does deserve better roles than 'Christmas with the Kranks' and 'Crossroads' have given him recently.
In short you'll love this movie and if you don't then don't tell your friends because they'll think you're weird and won't want to hang around with you any more.
Pulp Fiction star Uma Thurman is to take the lead in upcoming indie comedy Motherhood, according to industry whispers. Showbiz bible Variety says Thurman, who also appeared in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill double-header, will be joined by Grosse Pointe Blank star Minnie Driver and ER veteran Anthony Edwards in the film, which starts shooting in May. The movie follows a day in the life of Thurman's character, a stressed-out mother-of-two trying to hold it together while organising her daughter's Read more
