Grounded... perhaps this should have been...

If you are eight, you might find something in this. If you are older it will not have a great deal in it for you. Unlike some family movies like Cars or Happy Feet or etc there is humour for old and young alike, and a message in there somewhere - this is nothing like that, it has pretty juvenile humour and no message at all. It isn't the worst thing ever but it has just about every cheap hackneyed laugh lines, boy girl interest, anti grown up plots etc since film began. All in all no new ground, very short film and nothing to write home about. These guys may

not have caught a flight, but you should not worry if you don't catch this film.

Children Will Enjoy This Film...Mine Did !!

My children really enjoyed this film. It is called Grounded, but is also known as Unaccompanied Minors.

It stars Lewis Black as Oliver Porter the Airport Manager, Wilmer Valderrama as Zach Van Bourke as the main Airport Attendant, Tyler James Williams as a rich kid called Charlie Goldfinch, Dyllan Christopher as the leader of the group called Spencer Davenport, Brett Kelly as Timothy 'Beef' Wellington, Gina Mantegna as a rich girl called as Grace Conrad, and Quinn Shephard as a rebellious 11 year old called Donna Malone.

The plot is actually based on the true story of Susan Burton which was first told on the public radio show called This American Life.

The plot centres on six unaccompanied minors that are stuck at an airport for Christmas Eve.

The five older minors try to make Christmas come true for Katherine Davenport (Spencer's sister), a young girl who believes in Santa Claus.

The five minors (Charlie, Spencer, 'Beef', Grace and Donna) escape from the UM room (Unaccompanied Minors room), and are not taken to the hotel that the airport is providing for the Unaccompanied Minors.

The airport locks up for the night, since the snowfall is so high, but 'Beef' manages to escape in order to find a tree for Katherine.

Meanwhile, the other four children, experiment with all the airport equipment (i.e. baggage claims, the lost luggage room, etc.).

They are found and chased by the airport personnel.

They are caught and locked into separate rooms - they are very much like jail cells. Escaping again with the help of walkie-talkies, they make it over to the hotel in time to place a doll from the lost luggage room in Katherine's arms before she wakes up.

I will not tell you about what happens at the end, because this would spoil your children's enjoyment of the film.

With Christmas approaching, it is well worth renting out for children.
