(15)Good premise, but just doesn't cut the mustard!
By PhilMc (5 reviews) from Manchester , 24 Nov 2011This film has all the potential elements needed for a great horror; isolated (for reasonably plausible reasons) location in the military no-mans land between North and South Korea, and great sets in the form of the maze like, dark and supremely atmospheric military bunker; however, it just never materialized.
Do not expect a horror with this film (it's not even a bit scary), nor much action. It's more of a who-dunnit, but one which is not clever enough to keep you interested, with the painful cliche of having a character who knows but wont tell (until it's too late of course!).
In short, it just doesn't cut the mustard as either a Horror or who-dunnit, and in the end it seemed painfully over long.- Was this review helpful to you?

gp 506 forever
By juradino (813 reviews) from London , 10 May 2011Korean border drama where death meets logic. Soldiers go freaky in less then 3 months which is their tour of duty in a bunker in the middle of beautiful countryside. And there is no way out of it. Legacy to Cold War must be solved overnite. It refers to Shining as much as to Southern Comfort. Girls must have cried their eyes out with alligator tears to see their boys in place like that doing such desperate things. Dogs tried to run away from there. Whatever happened to the next party I would like to guess. Kiss my axe I'm rabid.- Was this review helpful to you?

Good but not great
By GADGET213 (71 reviews) from Birmingham , 19 Aug 2010It starts off strong then gets abit hard to follow, lots of flashbacks here which can be confuseing.
But the story does make sence and it is good but R-point was better.- Was this review helpful to you?

blu-ray special features don't work!!!
By Dodgyroge (39 reviews) from SLOUGH , 30 Dec 2009not a bad film, not the best Korean film i've seen but definitely worth a watch in my opinion.
One thing though..... the special features on the blu-ray wouldn't play! click on them and it just returned to the main menu. the only one that did work was on the trailer gallery (also from trailer) - not even the trailers for the film would work!- Was this review helpful to you?

Erm...
By wikkidsmyle (438 reviews) from Newmarket , 19 Oct 2009Before I start, I'm not xenophobic. Okay... I really struggled with this film and not because it's Korean and had subtitles; I have no problems with subtitled films. The problem was that the story was really deep (not the usual horror film fare) and the characters were not that polarised, either in looks or name (one was called Kang, another Bang - just needed a few spelling errors in the subtitles!). There's no denying the gothic atmosphere (set in an underground modern-day bunker) and the brilliant old-school prosthetic effects, but (and I hate to say this) a properly-done Westernised version (like 'Dark Water') might make things clearer...- Was this review helpful to you?
