In the 1550s Mantua, the Duke (Alvarez), a celebrated ladies man, seduces Gilda (Mula), the beautiful daughter of his sharp-tongued jester, Rigoletto (Servile). Vowing revenge, her furious father hires Sparafucile, a notorious assassin, to avenge his family's honour, a decision that will end in tragedy for all.

    Rigoletto

    I am not a opera fanatic, so I occassionally watch a operatic DVD. In this particular case assisted by the subtitlesI it became a pleasantly surprised. I was able to understand the story and enjoyed it, It made opera so much more available. This was the second operatic DVD I watched and it was prompted by the first, Minotaur, which was incredible. I'll be on the watch out for more in between listening to trance and dance.
