I'd heard from other people that Gypsy was one of their favourite musicals so I knew I had to see it being a sucker for a good song and dance. It didn't disappoint me at all. If you wanna see a funny, sad, dramatic and slightly bawdy movie than I'm sure you'll enjoy Gypsy. Its not pretending to be something it isnt, so I would say if your not a musical lover I'd avoid it - If you are... its a cracker.
This is a great musical from start to end, midler puts in a performance fit for the stage, and it would have been great if some of the others did the same. The strong supprting cast, including her daughter louise are certainly the highlights the only low points to the film is Herbie, as much as the talented Peter Riegert does his best, his vocals just miss it.
All in all a great film tho.
