Great, but a bit technicalBy Philippa Scott from East Lothian, Scotland , 24 Sep 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]I have seen this film a few times, and you really need to in order to understand whats going on. Basically, Dade Murphy/'Zero Cool'/'Crash Override' is an excellent hacker who has been in trouble with the FBI. When he moves to NYC, he encounters and befriends some fellow hackers, including 'Acid Burn' (Angelina Jolie), 'Cereal Killer', 'Phantom Phreak', 'Lord Nikon' and Joey, who is too uncool to have an alias apparently. Together, they discover a plot by another hacker, 'The Plague', to rob banks around the world using a worm virus, while he distracts the FBI with another virus called 'Da Vinci', which will basically cause a worldwide disaster. And why are Dade and his friends involved? Because they're getting framed for it. This movie is fast moving, fun and has a cool cast. Just try to keep up with the computer talk.

Juvenile and not funnyBy a customer from Barnet , 06 Feb 2009I hope Angelina Joile's embarrassed about having this on her CV. Then again, she should be embarrassed about a fair proportion of her CV. This really is terrible, an utterly inplausible plot that might entertain a rather slow twelve year old but nobody else. tt also seems that Lorraine Bracco needed a few $$$ before she landed the Sopranos gig as Dr Melfi. I don't recall putting this on my list; perhaps Lovefilm's been hacked, and my being subjected to this is the result? Only (half) joking.
Good clean funBy a customer from Stockport , 27 Oct 2008Not oftend you can say that about a film starring Angelina Jolie but this is before all the lesbianism, blood-drinking and romps with Brad Pitt - infact I had to look closely when she first makes an appearance in this movie to see if it was really her!
I liked this film, its a straight forward innocent kind of movie, nothing to take you by surprise and make you work too hard but at the same time fast-paced enough to keep you entertained and interested.
One thing I really liked about this were the little British quirks, obviously theres a pre-Trainspotting Jonny Lee Miller, but theres a great bit of The Prodigy Voodoo People used, as well as a glimpse of an Arsenal keeper top - circa Seaman 1995 and a pack of PG tips on the breakfast table in one shot.
Overall, a good run-of-the-mill teen adventure, a Goonies for the cyber generation if you will!
yippee! Totally daft funBy Jelly (16 reviews) from Glasgow , 03 Aug 2008Brightened by the geeky/cool charm of the young cast.
You never really get the impression that these sassy high school hackers are ever really in much danger. Half the enjoyment is watching them having fun running rings round everyone.
Entertaining for how retro it unavoidable looks.
This is just a really enjoyable night in for those of us who dont mind a bit of nonsense. Look out for the title of THE SELF HELP BOOK Kate's (Jolie) mother is supposed to have written. Very funny.
The director is no fool. He has brought us gems like 'Wings of the Dove' and 'The Skeleton key'. Both great films.
Angelina Jolie is very watchable in this. The punky charactor suits her. She just radiates charisma.
good funny watchBy flangemaster (5 reviews) from Oldham , 21 May 2008good film slow to start with but has some classic comedy moments worth seeing but not buying
