Most helpful review
Average horror but which sadly spawned more of the same on a boring downward spiral.
By roncoach (365 reviews) from suffolk , 08 Dec 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
This is an ordinary horror thriller that somehow acquired cult status and spawned so many follow-ups. It's not a bad film though I fear it only just makes the 3 star rating.
The fact that it led to a spate of similar films that were rubbish does not help its cause; nor should it have deserved even one sequel movie.
This film and Friday 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street all seem to me to blur into one long average horror film. They are nothing to write home about.
See it once, or any of them.....it's worth that because we all need to see films with any sort of 'following' ( just to see what all the fuss was about).
But will you want to see the sequels ? I doubt it somehow :))))- Was this review helpful to you?

(77)Suspense filled horror
By pompeyhater (15 reviews) , 15 Apr 2013Classic John Carpenter horror from the golden age of cinema with nutter Michael Myers stalking and slashing his way through his home town. The first half relies on building tension and the second half pure terror.- Was this review helpful to you?
