If your looking for a straight remake of the original don't look here.

Rob Zombie has totally changed the film around, the film is mainly about young Myers instead of the real scares of when hes older. Now instead of coming from a well to do American family, Michael Myers now comes from a broken home, instead of being a fairly normal kid who went mad on Halloween night (while wearing a clown costume for trick or treat) hes been turned into a more feminine if anything slightly backward kid who has a fixation with a stupid clown mask?!

The casting is awful, whoever cast the young Michael missed the mark and now older Michael has long hair and doesn't seem the mindless monster he is in the original. The acting is woeful at best and the dialogue awful, its as if Zombie was going for the record of bad language in a film. Malcolm Mcdowell does his best to hold it together but unfortunately its a lost cause. This version is much more gory then the original but doesn't have half the scares. A complete waste, this remake had big potential but Zombie messed it up big time, hes really missed the point of the Legend of Michael Myers. Rent the original instead its a much better film even though it was made nearly 30 years ago.

  • Another pointless remake!

An insult to the original - there is no tension, the direction is sloppy and Zombie has decided to swap the subtle build up of suspense for ham-fisted ( and not very convincing ) brutality. It actually gets worse as it progresses and ends up a total, utter mess!

I really feel this film is as good as the original. I know this is going to irritate a lot of other reviewers but I do actually think John Carpenter is over rated. Escape form New York or Vampires anyone? Rob Zombie really seems to polarise people, I feel he's brought a lot to the table especially in the current climate of horror. He's made a gritty, original film that adds depth to what has always been a one dimensional killer. Ok I understand that this is what some people found scary in Michael Myers, but by seeing the life he led before is interesting, seeing him slip deeper and deeper into madness I think makes him work, and watching what is ultimately a cute, small for his age oddball child turn into an out and out killing machine is disturbing. Watching his mother try her best to stick with him even after all he did is particularly touching. I am not a huge horror fan but I have always had a soft spot for Michael Myers and I feel this is a good reboot of a particularly stale franchise. Plus I think Tyler Mane was born to play this part.

  • Did Rob Zombie quit his job for the second half of the film?

This film had so much potential in its first half. It's almost as if they had someone else (and much worse) direct the second half of the film. In the first half we say Myers in his childhood where he murders his whole family regarding his mother and baby sister, this is well shot and layed out and has you gripped to see the rest. Then in the second half we flash forward to the future where Myers breaks out of prison, and we're introduced to Michael's sister who is played by an awful actor which plays a cringey teenager and does not stop screaming. It's a shame that she had to be the ones that 'survived'... I was begging Myers to slaughter her.

  • Good Remake

Good idea to set the scene and spend more time explaining why Michael Myers turned out out they way he did.

Will not exactly win any oscars but was a good remake overall.
