If your looking for a straight remake of the original don't look here.
Rob Zombie has totally changed the film around, the film is mainly about young Myers instead of the real scares of when hes older. Now instead of coming from a well to do American family, Michael Myers now comes from a broken home, instead of being a fairly normal kid who went mad on Halloween night (while wearing a clown costume for trick or treat) hes been turned into a more feminine if anything slightly backward kid who has a fixation with a stupid clown mask?!
The casting is awful, whoever cast the young Michael missed the mark and now older Michael has long hair and doesn't seem the mindless monster he is in the original. The acting is woeful at best and the dialogue awful, its as if Zombie was going for the record of bad language in a film. Malcolm Mcdowell does his best to hold it together but unfortunately its a lost cause. This version is much more gory then the original but doesn't have half the scares. A complete waste, this remake had big potential but Zombie messed it up big time, hes really missed the point of the Legend of Michael Myers. Rent the original instead its a much better film even though it was made nearly 30 years ago.

This film is o.k.Lots of gore and a few scary bits.In the original the main character Michael Myers (the psycho) is like a ghost, turning up when we least expect it, scaring the hell out of us, instead in this fim the psycho goes out and out for it, killing nearly everyone
he sees. It does become very predictable.

Rob Zombie directed this film. The original was directed by the master John Carpenter. The film is basically about a mad man named michael Myers. In the first part of the film we see michael as a child and we meet his family (a truly disfunctional lot). One day michael dons a mask and goes on a killing spree. He is arrested and put in a rehabilitation centre. However he can not remember a thing about what he did. Things happen in the centre and they decide to keep him locked up.
We then meet michael some fiteen years later. This is unfortunately where the film becomes rather predictable. Where John Carpenter keeps us guessing what will happen next. Rob Zombie has gone for a blood bath of slaughter. Michael Myers is looking for someone( i wont say who) and basically kills anyone who gets in his way. There is no tension as he goes from house to house causing bloody mayhem. This is where the film fails it just isnt scary ! Considering it is halloween we hope to be frightened but are not..
Rob Zombie has directed one of my favourite horror films House Of A Thousand Corpses (sick and funny and totally unpredictable) he also did Devils Rejects (nast and very sick). I do not understand why he did this remake,he obviously has talent. Leave all horror to the supreme being J.C.
Believe Me If you watch this movie you are in for a SHOCK
I watched This with a group of my friend
And god was it scary
I reccomend this for older teenagers
remember watch it in pitch dark for a right scare
Maybe because i like blood and gore, i found this better than the original. Hope Rob Zombie does a remake of the others as well
I was sceptical about watching this "remake" of one my most favourite horror movies of all time after it got some horrendously bad reviews from various magazines and film critics on television.
However, I was pleasantly surprised when starting the DVD to find that Michael's story does not begin on Halloween night with him picking up a knife and slaying his sister. In fact it takes some time in the story to get to this point HOWEVER this does NOT detract from the horror of it all nor make you sit wishing the movie would just pick up.
We start off in the small home of our favourite monster, and right away learn his family is dysfunctional and antagonistic towards each other. His mother is a stripper with a bad reputation that has even spread to Michael's school, his sister Judith is promiscous and selfish, and the stepdad is verbally (perhaps even physically) abusive and hateful towards Michael.
Enter a ten year old angelic faced Michael, a troubled boy who is bullied at school because of his mother's bad reputation, and his inability to fit in. Michael at this point is already reaching breaking point, and when the school discover his hobby - which is apparently killing and mutilating animals - they call in his mother and Dr. Sam Loomis to discuss the situation. Michael uses this time to stalk and beat to death one of the bullies who got him in trouble at school. And so the bloodbath begins.
Mom goes out for the night to work, leaving Michael, Judith and evil stereotypical stepdad at home. Judith was meant to take Michael trick or treating but instead decides to ditch him to be with her boyfriend. Michael reaches that breaking point. After sitting reflecting for some time, he eventually goes on a rampage and murders nearly the whole family except his mother (who wasn't there) and little sister who is a baby.
Locked in at Smiths Grove Sanitarium he's under the care of Dr. Loomis, but claiming he doesn't remember committing the murders, and he starts to live in his own head creating masks, all the while becoming more sullen and less talkative as time goes by.
Seventeen years pass, and Michael by this time has become a giant in stature and is still hiding behind paper mache masks. The boy Michael has so far disappeared beneath the evil and hatred and loneliness that have built up in Michael over the years from having waited in the sanitarium all this time.
The sections of the story that were remade really come nearer the end when Michael manages to escape due to the security at the sanitarium's stupidity, and Michael heads back to Haddonfield to kill the last remaining member of his family - his baby sister.
The movie feels less like a remake and more like a movie about the life of a serial killer, which pleased me. There's some fantastic and very realistic murder scenes which make for more squirming and wincing from the viewer through every scene.
This Michael is a gigantic killing machine, brutal, villainous and angry, not like the calm precise Michael of 1979. This one really WILL give you nightmares. :D

if u want a pure sat nite gore fest with an easy to follow plot youll love this.. Plenty of gore and jumps and ok performances.None of them oscar winning but this isnt that kinda film.
Absolute brilliant version of the classic Horror.
Unlike the other Halloween's, this movie shows the history and the rise of Michael Myers. This film will leave you on the edge of your seat (with the lights on!) screaming for more!
Rob Zombie really does have the talent to scare his fans.
I also recommend Zombie's previous horror flicks: House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects.
Can't wait for the next treat from Rob Zombie.
the 1 star i gave this is because the Mask is half decent - otherwise complete crap
First off Rob Zombie's Halloween isn't John Carpenter's masterpiece and if you haven't seen this film yet take that into account when your watching it. The film is set in two parts the 1st half is about Michaels childhood and his journey to what he becomes and in my opinion this part of the film is the best and should have remained the main focus of the film. The second part is the remake of Halloween where Michael breaks out and comes looking for his sister. Unfortunately this part of the film isn't long enough for my liking it doesn't explore Laurie and friends like the original and your left feeling that you don't care what happens to them. I personally didn't see the need nor the point of including it in this film. The soundtrack is really good. My only other critisms are theres a little too much swearing and the fact most Halloween films don't have much nudity in them...well this one makes up for that in spades. Overall good film worth the watch.
Donald Pleasence must be turning in his grave as this is absolute rubbish. Extremely violent, awful acting. I loved Halloween 1, 2 and 4 but this is scraping the barrell.
