Sadly they dont make them like this any more. Hammer may have been produced on a cheap budget but the acting by Peter Cushing and the likes keeps you glued to the screen. Anyone who watched Horror films in the 70s on Friday nights will love this set of 4 Hammer disks.
The first film The Mask of Satan is quite a poor show actually. It centres around a psychotic man who works in a hospital morgue of all places. He is very paranoid and is obsessed with the number nine.
The second film is called The Witching Time and centres around an old country cottage where a couple reside. Needless to say, the woman is having an affair and a witch from the 1700s appears to the man in ghostly appearance to tell him so. Patricia Quinn and Prunella Gee make an excellent performance here. The story centres around the witch and how the couple can get rid of her, as she makes a nuisance of herself.
The final film on this disc "From the Grave" is a benchmark film and concentrates on a woman who in a fit of fear, shoots him with a shotgun. The woman is neurotic and has shadows from her past. She sees visions of him everywhere and consults a palmist to discreetly try and resolve her fixation with the man she has killed. Simon McCorkindale plays the husband. Great set of thighs from Simon too. Definitely worth watching as this story is a standard set in practially every drama/thriller ever written that of deceit and corruption.
This Hammer House series is definitely worthy of including in any DVD collection.
