Adam Sandler has come on a bit since he made this knockabout sports comedy in which he stars as Happy Gilmore, a second-rate ice hockey player whose thuggish tactics are the only thing keeping him on the team. When his slap-shot is noticed by Carl Weathers and turned into a golfer's drive, Gilmore sees a way of earning enough cash on the fairway to save his granny's home from the depredations of the IRS. It's typical no-brainer fare, but the slapstick action does raise the occasional laugh.

    Master piece

This has to be Adam Sandlers greatest film. It's packed full of gags and will have you wanting more. You don't have to like golf to enjoy this film or Adam Sandler. I don't know anyone who dose not like this film. 5 stars all the way. RENT THIS FILM!!!!

The film involves a guy who while wanting to play ice hockey finds out he has an odd swing which enables him to whack a golf ball tiger woods distances and comedy ensues. My all time fave Adam Sandler film , if you like any of his other films then this one will not disapoint. All his friends who cameo in most of his later films are in this one as well. I can almost recite the film word for word due to the amount of times I have watched it.

This Sporting Life: What Happens When Sports Heroes Act Up?

This Sporting Life: What Happens When Sports Heroes Act Up? Eric Cantona and Ken Loach. These are not names you would immediately put together. One is a multi-millionaire (surely?) ex footballer, revered by millons of fans; and French. The other is a proud socialist from middle-England (Nuneaton), who has rejected the big money offers; his films are admired but by a relatively small number of committed film buffs. What's more, Ken Loach is a dedicated supporter of Bath FC. I'm guessing there... Read more
