Not for the beginner as some knowledge is required prior to renting this.....however if you don't play the 'Blues' prior to this rental you will upon completion........This review relates to Disc 1 of the two disc series and is submitted whilst I await the eventual arrival of Disc 2 (CD-WOW have a serious problem with the allocation and dispatch of two disc series marked 'Shipped in Order' their reason being that dispatches are selected by their 'software' package) However the moan over let's address the DVD which is, as ever, excellently produced by HomeSpunTapes and the back ground appears brighter. Disc 1 contains 5 songs and a demo as follows - 'C C Rider', Boogie Woogie Blues (format demo), 'Step It Up and Go', 'Kansas City Blues', 'New Stranger Blues' and 'Careless Love' all from the Blues Bag Book........this is one time when it would have been beneficial to have the book to hand, or better still a pdf. file allocated on the DVD a la Grossman style. HT gives a clear, structured tutorial of the songs in his usual high standard. This may not be for early beginners and should you just be picking up the guitar I suggest you leave this one out for the time being.......should you be advanced beginner (whatever that may be) or at intermediate level then this may suit you.......but it is on rental so there is no significant outlay in having a look at it........like all of Happy Traum's stuff YOU WILL GET SOMETHING USEFUL FROM IT
I really like Happy Traum, he keeps it simple and makes no assumption about your level. I have learned a lot from this guy
