Harlem Nights

Director Eddie Murphy
Genres Comedy, Drama
Run time 111 mins Certificate 18

11th July 2010

No spoiler. This was an excellent movie. A gangster theme which is not predictable since it is paired with comedy. Not surprising with Messrs Pryor and Murphy as the leads.

A great piece of writing by Eddie Murphy. His vast experience as a comedian shines through in the many peculiar characters that are woven into the story. The plot is entirely believable yet punctuated with humour throughout. I watched it with my family and we laughed together at the antics of the characters.

There is a lot of cursing but don't be put off by that. It is in keeping with the story environment and plot. let's face it - we've all heard it before.

Apart from the humour and well engineered plot and characters; there is a backdrop to the yarn about the 'little man' against the 'big man'.

My family and I will buy this movie - to keep on the shelf as one of our Saturday night distractions.

I commend Harlem Nights to you as an excellent story, fun characters and for its comedy value. Happy viewing.

John
