Twilight to fill in for Harry Potter

New movie Twilight is to be released early in order to plug the gap left by the delayed Harry Potter film. The film – which is an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's teen vampire novels – was originally scheduled for December 12th in the US, but will now open on November 21st. Meyer's books have caused a similar splash in the US as the Harry Potter novels in the UK, but she is still relatively unknown in this country. Harry Potter and the lucrative two-part finale

The final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be split into two films to be released six months apart, according to reports in Hollywood. Tinseltown bible Variety says the movies - installments seven and eight in the boy wizard's saga - will be filmed concurrently before part one hits screens in November 2010. Filming for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is underway in Gloucester, according to reports. The BBC says star Daniel Radcliffe has been joined by cast members including Dame Maggie Smith (Minerva McGonagall) and Alan Rickman (Severus Snape) for his sixth outing as the eponymous boy wizard. The stars of the Harry Potter film franchise were left drenched at their latest movie premiere in London on Tuesday night (07Jul09) when a storm threatened to wreck the event. Actor Daniel Radcliffe has likened new film Harry Potter And The Half Blood to Danny Boyle's cult film Trainspotting. David Yates, the film's director, told Empire magazine that the sixth movie would be the "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll" instalment of the hugely successful franchise.
