I read the book and it's really good
peace outt
Went to watch this in the cinema last night and having read all the books I was very disappointed. The book is obviously too long to put in one film and that really shows.
It seems very long and drawn out with some parts of the story missing, making it very confusing.
Ron has a girlfriend, but only half way through the film do we actually find out her name.
The ending has been changed to one in my opinion doesn't make sense. Harry would not have done what he did if he was in that situation.. (which he wasn't in the book) you will know what I mean when you see it.
I am not sure how it would have come across to someone who hasn't read the books, but I found it confusing as I had forgotten the story.
The effects are good, and some a little too scary for young children. In the cinema a few were taken out as they got scared, but then it is rated 12A and I think the kids were about 7ish?
All in all very disappointed, I hope the final one is much better.
It was inevitable that I was going to see this film, and as a Potter Purist I must admit I round it very irritating that to my mind they made uneccessary changes to the plot and added bits which wern't even in the book!! I think the chapter near the beginning where Dumbledore fetches harry from the Dursleys and gives them a piece of his mind would have been far better and in keeping with the book and previous films than the opening to the film which was offered I am not going to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it so I won't say what happened. Suffice to say what happened wasn't even in the book!!I also found the scene where Snape made the unbreakable vow a little disapointing and felt more could have been made of it. On a postive note Jim Broadbent was fabulous as Slughorn I had my doubts when he was cast but he played the part beautifully. This book lent itself by its very nature of not a lot of action in it to a faithful adaptation but it just didn't happen. They seemed to concentrate on the hormone levels at the school and the love lives of the kids far too much as well as mucking about with the story. Having said all that I did enjoy the film, as a piece of entertaining cinema usual stunning effects especially the cave scene - that was the big CGI moment in the film. My husband who has never read the books loved it, I who have read them - was a little disapointed and left wondering how when certain bits have been left out how they can follow on with the last one as some bits which were omitted are in my mind critical to the flow of the story. Not best adaption of the series, but entertaining and probably more so if you are not comparing it with the book.

I have always looked forward to seeing each new Harry Potter film and they have never disappointed till now! This new one is really long (and not in a positive way) with no sense of the usual Potter Magic. I got the feeling that whoever put this together (whether it was Rowling or the film makers who I am told changed quite alot from the original) had run out of ideas and was just fumbling along making up some uninteresting semblance of a story as they went along. I think this film paid far too much attention to teenage love interests that seemed to take over the theme of the film. While I am an adult watching the film, I watched the previous Harry Potters because of the make believe world of magic and wizardry: I'll be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less about who is snogging who and their raging teenage hormones. It's minutae that does not interest because that is not one of the reasons I like seeing Harry Potter on screen and it certainly detracts from the magic and the fantasy land. I guess this is indicative that the HP franchise is coming to an end, which is just as well, however I seriously doubt this installment of Harry Potter is one I will remember in years to come.
i read the book and i didnt think it was that good
but i liked all the films so far so it should ok!
What a let down. This should have been an exciting film, as the book is. Instead what you get is an indepth look into the development of adolescent crushes and a lot of confusion for those people who haven't read the books as to just what is going on and why. One understands that it is necessary to sometimes change book stories somewhat to accomodate the film making process, but this was just poor scripting and screen writing and very poor direction. The last 25 minutes of the film should be the exciting finale. But it's a damp squib of an ending with the exciting fight in the castle completley left out. There are whole tranches of the story missing on the understanding Voldemort and his development and psyche. And no link to the final two films on searching for the remaining horcruxes and what they might be. There was a pointless scene added in the middle at the Weasleys' house for Xmas that contributed nothing to the story. The time and money spent on that scene could have been used to make the films ending the glorious, exciting and sad ending it was in the book. Sorry guys but you well and truly messed up on this and unless the next two films stick a bit more closely to the spirit of the books, and the actual stories, I won't be going to see either of them.
the book was great, so far the best, most rivitting of all the harry potters can't wait for film.
