Comedy starring Gene Wilder as Larry Abbot, a man undergoing a psychological procedure at his Great Aunt Kate's mansion, designed to rid him of his irrational phobias - by frightening them right out of him. But the jolts and frights may turn out to be the least of his problems when his Great Aunt Kate names him her sole heir. Suddenly, the entire family seems a little too vigorous in participating with his 'scare-apy', leading Larry to believe that one of his jealous kin may be murderous, and that another may be werewolverous.

This was a hoot, I remember seeing this when I was a kid and I thought it was really good then.

Just top spoof laugh and Gene is superb as always.

The old ones are definitely the gold ones.

Anything with Wilder in is guaranteed to be funny, and this film is no exception.

Totally brilliant classic, with tongue in cheek humour

Disappointing Wilder

Supposed to be a spoof horror or black comedy. Well made by good staff and camera work excellent but it does not work out because GW forgets to wind up the tension first. Cannot have comedy out of nothing and it would have worked a lot better if the comedy had been used as relief from the tension of horror but there is none.

Ah memories. Borrowing heavily from the early Haunted House movies of the 40/50's. With no major plotline in sight the film rest entirely on the shoulders of the cast. Whilst this is a critcism it's also a complement as they carry the entire movie. Had they tightened up the script it would have been a classic as it stands it'll remain an enjoyable fun movie. This was a childhood fav of mine and whilst it's not quite as hilarious as I remember it still raises a smile. A great Sunday afternoon film that I'll always have a bit of a soft spot for.
