What could be considered a dubious rent due to the topical nature of the comedy is perhaps better than watching the current series. The DVD is so well edited it contains tremendous laugh-out-loud moments and endless well edited gags that never leave you confused as to whether youve missed some by-gone topical gag.
Once, its been watched you can go back and re-watch the DVD with commentary from Hislop and Merton and hear their far from impartial views and anecdotes on contestants, politics and haircuts. This is just as funny if not funnier from a well teamed pair of cynic and surreal comedians.
Although some jokes may be reminiscent (the tub of lard, Paul Mertons embarrassing Deayton T-Shirt), the humour value is tremendously entertaining and is well worth a rent as it can easily take up a whole evening.
There is also fascinating watching of seeing top UK stories discussed with a hindsight of how they panned out that is just as good as the comedy. Some clips even contain an element of nostalgia with one of the first shows Deayton ending on Its goodbye from me and it looks like its good bye from her [shows: clip of Thatcher: Good-bye]
Overall, harsh un-PC comedy that sadly it seems modern BBC comedy have lost the formula for.
Brilliant look back at a decade of scandals and humour.
If you dont laugh at this there is something wrong with you!
