I wasn't expecting much to be honest, (only rented it due to dogged dedication to see every film RDJnr has ever made), but I was very pleasantly surprised how funny this was. The moment in the car when he first sees Milo again is proper hilarious. And considering the plot, kind of like a cross between Ghost and Quantum Leap, It's not even as cheesy as it could easily have been, apart from the end, but that's fair doos for what it is. Elisabeth Shue, though, is awful. Admittedly it's not much of a part, and anyone can look a bit amateur opposite Mr. Downey Jnr, but she truly cannot act, and I'm not remotely surprised she kind of faded away.
Anyway, it also really reminded me of Drop Dead Fred, very much in tone, but also literally in theme/plot (friends only he can see and hear, left him when he was a child, then come back when he's 30ish at a time of crisis in his life etc.) and occasionally actual scenes (particularly the meeting scene). I would't say it's a rip off or anything, just 'inspired' by, and definitely a great example of if-you-like-this-you'll-like-the-other.
So yeah, give it a go even if you don't normally like this kind of fluffy stuff, (and definitely essential viewing for fellow RDJ fans).
