Not even the combined talents of Streep and Nicholson could bring this dead script to life. They both went through the motions with neither believe nor conviction in their character. One to avoid

I loved this film. Thought it would be full of schmaltz but it's got a really bitter centre. Meryl is great and Jack is so believable as the (un)loveable rogue of the piece. I could really relate to the story as you could tell it came straight from the (broken) heart. RIP Nora Ephron you were amazing.

  • Don't watch it just because Jack and Meryl are in it, it's a mediocre film

the film has a few of my favourite actors, so I was a bit disapointed that it was so poor. The plot is paperthin, the script is dull, and it was about 80 minutes longer than it needs to be.

It seems that some woman wrote the original novel about her particular marriage breakup which is what the film is based on. While it may have been important to her, it doesnt make interesting viewing. It's a story we've all seen and heard before, and isn't worth spending more than half an hour let alone 2 hours watching.
