One Horrendous DVD on all fronts, sound, picture and film. Starting with sound...very muddy, music drowns out most of the dialogue (not that it affects the film in anyway). Picture is too dark, I'm sure some wonderful things are happening with the use of basic CGI effects, but you can't see them without bumping your tube right up to the point of burnout, and even then the animation is not worth the effort. The film is terrible...Heavy Metal has been going since mid-late '70's and therefore should have amassed enough good stories to make a reasonable film...clearly not if this is the best they could muster. There didn't seem any point in making this an 18 as there was little in the way of sexual content (what there was failed to be anywhere near erotic) and the violence was usual fair...it is very bad drawn and in these days of high class anime is shocking that the producer's thought that this was a product worth pushing, saying that, I rented it, and that was on the back of the Heavy Metal name...read the magazines, don't watch the films!
