    [Highly rated reviewer]

Guillermo del Toro said in an interview not too long ago that with Pan's Labyrinth he just 'went for it', ridding himself from commercial restraints and letting his creativity run free. And creative and fantastically visionary he is. Look at the films he has helmed and there is the gems/arthouse side (Devil's Backbone/Pan's Labyrinth etc.) and there is the blockbuster side (Mimic, Blade 2...). Hellboy spanned that bridge to an extent, Hellboy 2 however is the perfect crossbreed.

There are stunning visuals, creatures and fantasy galore, alongside humourous quips and BIG BADABOOM action. Still, the time has been taken to make the characters much more substantial and the storyline is relevant and involving.

The vast increase of money spent on this sequel is blatant, but by no means wasted. This is one of the greatest directors around given the opportunity to do what he does best: create a hell of a movie with a big solid heart.

Great entertainment that will satisfy both popcorn movie goers as well as conneissures.

    SEE THIS IF YOU LIKED

I've been told that I really should watch Hellboy 1 first, because that explains the story better, but in this one because I haven't watched the 1st one I didn't get the storyline or characters. there was some good animation tho

Another enjoyable romp for Hellboy and his pals with some mean little critters having a nibble at him.

Nothing outstanding but good fun. Nice graphics not a bad story, and a cool character. Can't go wrong really!

Contrary to other peoples views on here i thought the first one was better

Still a good movie by no means and definitely worth watching if you've seen the first one.

Not that memorable as a movie tho

Well, it's an improvement over the first Hellboy film, but still, it felt like it was lacking something, but I'm not sure what. It felt like it had everything from the Human Xenophobic nature, too plenty of Jokes, but what was missing, I just can't put my finger on. Oh well, it was still worth watching.

A really enjoyable movie. I always seemed to miss this when it was shown on tv and I am glad that I was able to rent it. It is a well made film with some brilliant f/x and a pretty good story line. Like the first HELLBOY movie it is very much under rated and a lot better than some of the recent 'block busters' that have been about with big publicity budgets. If you like a good, well made fantasy movie then i would recommend this for you.
