Pinhead, the Cenobite superstar of author Clive Barker's bloody brainchild, tempts new disciples down the path of perverse pleasure when freed from a marble pillar bought by a playboy as a sculpture in this distinct improvement on part two. Here, director Anthony Hickox's high-energy kinky horror comic strip is hot-wired by a keen visual sense and big dipper drive. More a supernatural sadomasochistic action thriller than the murky Gothic nightmares of the previous two episodes, this kamikaze kaleidoscope of carnage is funny, original and unpredictable. Good performances, superior splatter and a wicked twist in the tale give the gleeful gruesomeness of this second sequel a winning edge.
Gore-filled horror, in which the main intention seems to be to create in Pinhead a demonic figure capable of sustaining a long-running series of such movies.
With its bravura camerawork, fetishistic Cenobite designs, nerve-jangling soundtrack, and literate Peter Atkins script,... read more on Time Out
Best of the hellrasier movies in my opinion.Plenty of gore which you would expect to find in a horror film also a good plot and a little sex if that's your thing. The finale was very good.
A pretty good sequel, which has an interesting story and is gloriously bloody & violent once again. Doug Bradley(Pinhead) is great as he was in the first two films and Terry Farrell (Dax from Star Trek DS9) is mostly good throughout. There is also a good soundtrack, good special effects & make-up again, and some new Cenobite characters are introduced. There is more use of Pinhead when compared to the first 2 films, and Pinhead is also more evil in this film. Some of the dialogue is a bit cheesy, but on the whole the film is a worthwhile addition to the Hellraiser series.
I think some people are a bit too hard on 'Hellraiser III'. Yes, the acting is atrocious for the most part and Pinhead's vast diatribes on society are beginning to grate. Still, the gore here is mucho fun, particularly in the club scene! They even copied that scene for 'Carrie 2'. At this point, the Hellraiser series was starting to show weakness and really should have been put to death. Sadly, it wasn't and the films continued. Pinhead goes to space, Pinhead rambles on about some rubbish and the films leave any possibility of a theatrical release behind and start being churned out direct-to-video. It's a sad state of affairs, so with this in mind I actually think 'Hellraiser III' is the last decent sequel. A final stab at telling the story and continuing the Cenobites' reign over the world. Don't be TOO hard on it!

I can see a pattern emerging here... Hellraiser was great, Hellraiser II was okay, if a little silly, and Hellraiser III... complete and utter rubbish from beginning to 45 minutes through when we'd had enough and decided that that was it, and we were not, ever, going to bother watching any of the others in this series. Ever. I can only imagine was drivel Hellraiser IV would be, and pity anyone who thinks that they'll give it a go.
The first 2 were classic, if a little cheesy (it was the 80's after all), however this is the tackiest piece of crap I have even seen. Cenobite with CD's in his head...WTF... what is scary about that, it just looks silly.
I have been a fan of Clive Barker and Hellraiser stories. I think this one is probably one of the best. Well worth checking out if you are a fan of older horror films.
i did quite like this film surprisingly as i thought it would just be another rendition of the first one where pinhead wreaks simple havoc,
which is just what he did but with an actual storyline, instead of the usual 80's early 90's shredder horror there were no teens as the central characters, just one lone woman reporter duking it with the apparently new king of hell whom has become seemingly immortal apart from when it comes to the lament configuration.
me being me i adored the range or cenobites, i probably would'nt have looked further more into this title if there werent anymore various cenobites
but anyway great film, excellent addition to the series, unfortunately it didnt stay that way. (apart from hellraiser 5, that was a gd'un)
Anyone who has enjoyed the first 2 Hellraiser films should enjoy the third as it is more of the same but with Pinhead featuring a lot more.
I think this is the 2nd best of the pinhead series - if you like technicolour blood and gore and special effects this is for you. What's lacking is a real story line where you feel the real nail biting terror of the first two films - what's also missing is the sexual undertones of them as well. Nevertheless this is a brillant film and anyone who wants a night in with the lights down, a bowl of popcorn and who wants to be shocked - this is for you! As long as you don't mind the sight of blood!
i had it on video but it is even better on dvd
