Excellent Horror Classic - Still Holds Up Today
By Debs from Scotland , 19 Aug 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Even though this movie was made 18 YEARS AGO it still rates amongst one of the best even against todays standards. Very gory and is capable of making you cringe at times due to the torture scenes - which adds to the creepy scary feel of the movie. Pinhead is excellent! Hadn't thought about this movie in a while , until another visit to Blackpool Pleasure Beach were I went inside the PASAJE DE TERROR (were real people dress as horror movie characters and chase you around.) This time I came face to face with Pinhead and was absolutely terrified! Inspired me to watch Hellraiser again and enjoy a real horror movie instead of watching the usual drivel that gets churned out of studios these days. DEFINATELY WORTH A WATCH- Was this review helpful to you?

(64)Disguistingly Delightful
By Awesome180 (6 reviews) from Ipswich , 09 Feb 2011Hellriaser is a misshapen but hideously delightful film that will please horror fans from all age groups. The Blu-Ray transfer is commendable but it is lacking and not as superb as it could have been.- Was this review helpful to you?

Idea Unleashed
By Trippa (3 reviews) from Lightwater , 23 Jan 2011Don't be put off by the cringe-worthy 80's make up and clothes, Barker's story still stands up despite it's low budget realisation reminiscent of a 'Tale Of The Unexpected' production.
Pinhead and The Cenobites will live on in your mind after seeing them.
Aphex Twin fans note Uncle Frank's 'Come To Daddy' line no doubt inspired Richard James' use of same. We can only dream about a version of 'Hellraiser' directed by Chris Cunningham.
A web search for 'The Unreleased Themes from Hellraiser' will bring you Coil's far more imaginative and charged music, which was rejected in favour of something more conventional in the released film.- Was this review helpful to you?

The box, you opened it, we came.
By Bassman71 (617 reviews) from Didsbury, England , 05 Jan 2011Man buys Occult Rubix Cube, opens it up, nasty things happen, brother & wife move into old house where man was squatting, wife had affair with man, more havoc.
Watched this years ago & now seems like a cross between a 70s Hammer Horror film & the Saw franchise.
The acting is pretty bad all round, quite a bit of voice dubbing too but the make-up is brilliant & the SFX still gruesome apart from the silly Dr Who-esque effects at the end.- Was this review helpful to you?

Disappointed after such hype
By a customer from Essex , 11 Mar 2010This was my first viewing. I can't remember why I've put it off for so long as it seems to be highly placed for horror fans, but I wasn't impressed. Even for an 80's film it lacks atmosphere and the acting is not good.- Was this review helpful to you?
