If you fast forward through the cabaret scene, the Cavalier scene and the Jimmy Edwards movie about a man and his suitcase, you do get an offbeat rom-com. The movie doesn't stick with any one style, trying to be slapstick with some funny but mostly daft moments, then switching back to romance. David Tomlinson is as 'timid' as he gets, but Jon Pertwee is funny as the waiter in the Magnoli club. Also watch out for Terry-Thomas and Harry Secombe.- Was this review helpful to you?
