Most helpful review Henze - Boulevard Solitude

  • Modern telling of Manon Lescaut

    [Highly rated reviewer]

A modern opera with action taking place in a railway station, some time after the second world war. The story is that of Manon Lescaut, but musically I prefer other versions of Abbe Prevost's tale,as I like more melody to an opera. There are seven short scenes linked by orchestral intermezzi, the later accompanied by action taking place in the station.

    Not to every ones taste.
