Modern telling of Manon Lescaut
By Robert Smith from Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. , 05 Jan 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
A modern opera with action taking place in a railway station, some time after the second world war. The story is that of Manon Lescaut, but musically I prefer other versions of Abbe Prevost's tale,as I like more melody to an opera. There are seven short scenes linked by orchestral intermezzi, the later accompanied by action taking place in the station.
