If you can see past the hideous Eighties hairstyles then this is a passable release of the ever polpular classic, perhaps it could have done with a special feature or two, but then again I suppose some of these concert musicians are so stuck up that they would rufuse to be interviewed !
It finds redemption in it's offer of audio (5.1 or 2.0) channels but apart from that it's a pretty 'bare bones' affair. Maybe I was expecting too much.
Anne Sophie Mutter plays the Vivaldi passionately and brilliantly.
However, if you've heard baroque orchestra playing these over played pieces before, somehow they do seem to have more life than this version - the Berlin just sounds to big and overblown for this type of music.
PS It would be nice to see her smile sometimes though!
