Oh do believe the hype!
By a customer from London, England , 22 Oct 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
Im not particularly into watching tv-series when aired on telly, as I find it too hard to commit to a time and day of the week so inevitably I end up watching the first episodes but give up half way through. Heroes was no exception but after watching the first 2 episodes I knew I had to get the series on DVD because it was just too good to miss! I loved every episode of it and in order not to give out any spoilers I will not get into the details. Believe the hype. This IS really good. Extremely well executed, it looks fantastic, the special effects are better than any TV series out there and the story grabs you and refuses to let go until the very end. The only criticism that I can think of is that in spite of what Tim Kring says, it is plagiarising X-men. Not that this is a bad thing but to claim otherwise is a bit embarrassing when the similarities are huge. Some of the characters even have the same powers as the heroes and villains of X-men. But I love it and I know of lot of people who are not into sci-fi but still loved the series. I cant wait for series 2 to come out on DVD (as unfortunately I dont have the patience to watch it on telly).- Was this review helpful to you?

I want to be a hero myself.
By bat76 (17 reviews) from Wirral, England , 25 Jul 2008After watching the concluding half of series 1, I cannot wait to watch series 2 when it is available to rent. Most of them lead everyday lives, go to work or go to school, go home and lead a normal life. Their whole world is changed once they discover their powers and it leads to a battle of good versus evil. What is the best part of heroes, it has led to discussions were I work with people who would not entertain the superhero genre. These are heros who do not wear capes or latex costumes and they are heroes who people can relate to. Hiro and Peter Petrelli were 2 heroes whose powers would be cool to have, bend space and time and absorb other powers. Silar makes a great villian and it was great to have the legendary Macolm McDowell in the series. I highly recommend Heroes to anyone.- Was this review helpful to you?
