Not a patch on the original film

As a fan of the original HSM film, I was quite dissapointed with this. There were a few problems with this. Unlike the sequel, the songs from the first film don't stand up to the test when sung out of context and on their own. Another problem is that the concert looses the charm of the film - there is none of that warmth or togetherness. The biggest problem, however, is the lack of Zac Efron (due to him filming Hairspray). The guy who plays Troy (the original singer from the first film who dubbed over Zac's songs) is a very good singer and dancer, but he just doesn't have the 'x' factor. Ultimately, the concert is not really worth it - it would be better to rewatch the film.

Great for the kids

This is a great DVD for High School Musical lovers of all ages. All the favourite songs are there. The concert itself is a little short, but there are some great extra's to keep them busy. One disappointment is that 'Troy' is not in this, but a stand-in (arguably with a better voice). He won my kids vote though as he had a gunners jacket on.

Overall, great fun for the kids.
