5 Stars?!
By TinyMoose (3 reviews) from London , 09 Mar 2009[Highly rated reviewer]
5 Stars is a review rating I'd give to about 4 movies. Thats it. So don't think I just dole out 5 star reviews for any old crap. This movie is worth it.
The back-drop: Loved the first Highlander movie, thought the sequels, TV spin-offs etc... were all terrible, and I am familiar with the Japanese anime directors work. Seen a couple of his movies, and they've all been very good with his usual blend of action and story.
This movie is a notch above even them, though. Its basically a story about an Immortal searching for vengeance [as the name might imply], but there is also a lot more to it than that, something I won't spoil.
Story is pretty damn excellent with beautiful flashbacks that explain Colin's plight and his constant meetings with his enemy over the decades [when Rome finally fell, Japan and China during revolutions, WWII etc...], the action is brilliant as you would expect from this director, and the film is also pretty emotional as you come to grips with Colin and his eternal torment over what he lost 2000 years ago.
I am now going to buy this movie.- Was this review helpful to you?

(7)No where near the hights of the best
By a customer from Byfleet , 10 Jan 2010I've seen countless manga movies and anime and although this is ok,Manga has never managed to be as good as the 80s or 90s.The main character is a bit of a let down as he only helps the city when he finds out it is his arch nemesis who he is out for revenge on.The film then goes back through time showing the hero repeatedly get his butt handed to him and he is only saved by being on holy ground or someone else saving him.Fist of the north star, original Guyver, ninja scroll, cyber city now those guys were tough.- Was this review helpful to you?

A good watch
By Sloancritic (36 reviews) from Maidenhead , 04 Jul 2009This is a solid watch that spans the centuries and tells the story of obsession and death. It is a much better watch than some of the actual movies. There us no 'continuity' with the films or TV show, but, frankly, it doesn't really matter.
Well worth a view.- Was this review helpful to you?
