If like me, you did not read the prologue, then you too will get a surprise during the initial scenes. This drama is in the true British style combining tension with a cinematically gritty backdrop. Clearly, rated as an 18, there are some raw scenes but this adds to the realism.

This is one of the best storylines for the genre (somewhat better than the US alternatives), which thank goodness is now on DVD, so you do not have to wait for the next episode.

  • Original, left-field and compelling

I thought this was excellent - a collection of interesting, left-field outsider characters and liked the way the 'rootsy' soundtrack drew parallels between themes usually associated with US crime/killer road movies with the settings of a gritty UK city and bleak peak district. I would love to have seen a second series but get the impression Chloe Sevigny found 6 months filming in our grey, damp and cold climate enough . Can't say I blame her! Highly recommended.

If like me you rent this series without knowing too much about it, then the first 10 minutes may render you surprised and somewhat stunned. My mouth was a gape for good few minutes and flapped open a couple of times during the series. I made the mistake of presuming this was an American series after seeing Chloe Sevigny's name. It's a completely British affair based in a Northern rural village. Great performances and a subject matter which will twist your own feelings towards transsexuals. This shouldn't be missed.

What an amazingly brave performance from Chloe Sevigny. Well worth watching whether you know what's happening or not. i didn't realise it is set in England. Sure the other characters could be developed a bit more - perhaps they will if there's another series.

Didn't know anything about this drama series. Found it to be an excellent series started watching it and I was hooked, so watched all series at once. It's different to the usual and the characters are engaging, you are left wanting to know what's next. Well worth a watch. Hope they eventually make another series.
