"...The first scene in THE HITCHER II is one of the most clever, exciting openers in a long time....A tense enough thriller..."
This sequel although not quite as effective as the original, still has it's moments, with particularly good opening and ending sequences. Jake Busey was pretty good as the hitcher, but not comparable to Hauer.
It suffers from having from so much to live up to and has taken a fair amount of criticism in certain quarters, but in its own right is very watchable and kept me entertained.
I like most am a huge fan of the original and the legend that is Rutger Hauer. Imagine my surprise when one day while browsing through my local Blockbuster I can across this. Ooohh this has got to be good I thought. Now we know that C Thomas is obviously desperate for cash as he hasn't made much of an impact on the big screen recently but surely he isn't THIS desperate. I squirmed and laffed all the way through (its not funny). It was basically a very rubbish rewrite of the original. Oh there is one shock a short while into it but that's about it, but you get over that slight raise in heartrate after about a second. This film is Dreadful, terrible, horrible, cringe inducing pile of nothing. C Thomas and Busey (who is generally rubbish in everything) are just shocking. Please please don't bother renting this film, straight to video - straight in the bin more like.
