great nostalgia

This reveiw is based on disc one of the series.The actors on here are truly stars of the golden age,every star gets a 25 minute session,where there career is glossed over,with dialogue,usually over old trailors often trailors of a movies re-release,hence some colour movies are advertised in black and white.Bela Lugosi and John Barrymore apart the majority of the stars mentioned often have there movies availble on tv or dvd,I watched this and saw clips of movies I had not seen before,and will try catch those soon.This dvdis enjoyable a pure nostalgia or anyone interested in old movie stars.they have stood the test of time and are unique,however they are now replaced by modern stars only time will tell if todays stars will endure like these.This dvd compares favourably with the hollywood greats programmes shown on tv.

Lots of stars but No stars really

If a biography is a series of film trailers and a voice over that tells you the plots of the films that the actors appeared in.... well then the title of this dire, time-wasting series is not misleading. Actual life-story details are reduced to about two sentences per person. The only bonus is good quality screen scenes from old movies. But I would not waste about five rental goes on each disc in the series for that.
