There was a time when the name Harrison Ford above a movie title guaranteed a smash hit, but over the last few years Ford seems to have lost some of that old magic with flops such as K-19: the Widowmaker and Random Hearts taking some of the polish off the once golden boy. In the US, Hollywood Homicide continued the downwards trend, which is a pity, because it's a serviceable enough buddy movie. Ford plays a homicide detective who's busier moonlighting with his real-estate deals than solving crimes, while partner Josh Hartnett is an affable dimwit with a yen to take to the stage. The plot makes little sense, and it all degenerates into the inevitable car chase in the final act, but there's just enough wit in the script and chemistry between the likeable leads to offset much of the hoary genre's predictability.

Predictable cop-buddy-comedy-thriller in which neither cast nor director seem much interested.
Having not read the 'critiques' before watching the film - I now find them bizarre!
This is a very good film: Action, a great deal of humour, and it reflects the irony of policing in Hollywood.
The humour in the film is intelligent; I would suggest that some did not enjoy the film, because the tear educing humour went right over there heads..
I think it would be an advantage to potential viewers, to watch the brief 'Making of Hollywood Homicide' extra, before the film itself. In that way it may shed some light.
To conclude I would say that I have not used my pause button so much - I could not stop laughing in some places. {its supposed to be funny that?s the point!!}
Oh Dear! Buddy cop film starring Harrison Ford, got to be good no? Well no, the main plot is poor enough but the tacked on side plots are even worse. No chemistry between Ford and Hartnet and if you don't go mad at the constant mobile ringtones throughout the film then I'll eat my hat! Stick to Riggs and Murtaugh any day.
I was expecting an all out action thriller and instead was faced with a comedy action movie. Which is actualy quite funny, Harrison Fords cop / real estate agent is a likeable character who is teamed up with a young spiritual policeman played by Josh Hartnett. Together they are quite good on screen and the less than original plot plods along nicely. The action is good, the comedy is wry and subtle and the overall feel of the film is laid back. Not the greatest buddy cop movie but worth a watch all the same.
This is a good example of the skills Harrison Ford has in Comedy if only hollywood would give him more of a chance to use them. The film itself is a mixed affair. It starts off well with a realationship between the two leads getting time to develop, but then the film changes gear and turns into an uneasy chase suspence action mode, which doe'nst seem to have any logic with what we saw in the first act. Harrison too seems uneasy in the roll, and the film has a running joke though out the film about Phone ring tones which soon wears thin.
On the whole, a mixed film, which you not likey to remember for very long, after you've seen it.
exellent movie. Harrison ford is good as usual

Adding to the long list of comic cop buddy films, comes Hollywood Homicide, starring veteran Harrison Ford and new boy Josh Hartnett as LAPD officers investigating a brutal gangster shooting.
Neither man is happy in his career, and entertaining capers ensue as Ford juggles his real-estate business with the investigation and Hartnett attempts to wow as an actor. Ford is haggard but droll and Hartnett fresh faced and brash.
This film has a strange pace, and the investigation fails to inspire any real excitement, but the humour is strong, if strange and there are enough novelties to impress any firm fan of the genre.
Ah yes I thought, Harrison Ford is in the film, it will be a good one. Wrong!!! Sorry Harry but this has to be the worst film you have ever been in!
If it wasn't for the fact we wanted to know who the real baddie would turn out to be, we wouldn't have bothered. My best advice is try and do something else to pass the time of the boring bits, I groomed the dog!
If not make yourself a bowl of stuffing, its a real turkey!
Had high hopes for this film. But it falls into the same category as Glitter
and that J-Lo and Ben film. Glad I did not see this in the cinema. Should have had an early night with the wife instead
This film has exploding cars. It has gangster murders. It has corrupt cops and car chases. And yet, I spent the entire movie waiting for something to happen!
Yes - the ENTIRE movie. I actually made it to the end. But I had a dreadful cold and it was a Saturday night and I was all alone and bored.
I defy anyone else to get to the end of this turkey.
So, if you switched off half way through - no need to worry. At the end, the villain falls into a skip labelled 'Hollywood Waste'.
How apt.
I suppose even the best actors are lulled into making the odd bad film and as far as Harrison Ford is concerned this is it. It never seems to get going and if it wasn't for the ubiquitous car chase near the end I would struggle to remember anything about the content of the film. To my mind it was a waste of a perfectly good Ford Mustang!
Well okay; so the plot is all over the place, the main actors share little chemistry, the final police chase is way too long and utterly unbelievable, etc, etc.
Nonetheless it had some small, charming moments which were rather unique and unexpected for you normal buddy-cop clich? ridden film.
Seen as a tongue-in-cheek police cop flick it is actually rather amusing.
A lot of pants! Firstly Harrison Ford was meant to be some tough guy cop, he wasn't! Also Josh Hartnett can't act, nor was the plot any good. Every man and his goldfish new that people were being taken out by the Record company, so why was it such a surprise to these two 'detectives'? The humour was..em...humourless and the, aah, it was all a pile of cack! Not as bad as Bulletproof Monk though, but close.
