[Highly rated reviewer]Fifty's film noir with Adrien
Brody very sensitive performance as a down at
heel private eye investigating
the death of Superman actor.
Very slow paced ,though excellent performances by
Affleck and Lane, with a tremendous small role for
Bob Hoskins. The film certainly captures the time with its film studios and movie star mansions scenes, but it is flawed effort
and could have been a classic if the screenplay was
a lot sronger.

worth a watch
GoodBy a customer from West Linton , 14 Jan 2010A watchable film but lacked some but a bit superficial to prevent a higher rating
Not that greatBy pippa4 (13 reviews) from Banbury , 15 Dec 2009I had wanted to see this film for ages and although it was good and kept me watching, at the end it didnt really solve anything and i felt that the ending was a bit of anti climax.
ExcellentBy a customer from Wrexham in Welsh Wales , 03 Aug 2009HOLLYWOODLAND tells the story of Louis Simo (Adrien Brody), a private investigator hired by George Reeves's (Ben Affleck) mother to look into Reeves mysterious death.
It neatly moves backwards and forwards between Reeves's life, the Original 1950's SUPERMAN and the slightly grubby Simo's. Ben Affleck is excellent as Reeves as is Adrien Brody as Simo.
Directed by Allen Coulter who creates a Film Noir-ish atmosphere at times reminiscent of 'China Town' or 'The Two Jakes' Great supporting performance from Diane Lane and an excellent cameo from Bob Hoskins. Fast paced it's not but if you enjoyed the gentle unfolding story that was 'Lost in Translation' you'll get the idea of what to expect.
