In the absence of Macaulay Culkin, cute little Alex D Linz plays the resourceful youngster who's on his own in the house, where he fends off an international espionage team trying to steal back a top-secret computer chip hidden in his new toy. Pity the hapless baddies as the plucky boy devises ingenious booby traps and performs engaging heroics to foil them. Writer John Hughes's third neatly plotted variation on the same theme is good knockabout fun, with Linz a winning replacement for Culkin. There are some genuine laughs, and not too much saccharin or cartoon-style brutality.

A dispiriting continuation of the series, featuring much the same old routine of violent slapstick that, this time, borders on the sadistic.

BEAUTY
An intellectual FEAST of inuendo and bravado, 'home alone 3' not only meets the standard of the originals, it surpasses them to such an extent that comparing home alone 3 with home alone 1 would be like comparing 'american pie' with 'the shawshank redemption'. One is art at its very best, moving, emotive, REAL, and beautiful, while the other is humanity at its most patheticly idiotic and ashamedly mediocere. When I saw this film I actually wept, like a tiny flower, recoiling in the rain, I curled up into a ball and shook as I realised 'THIS is it. The most beautiful and intense moment of my life'. This film was not just mere entertainment, it took me on a journey, and through it I laughed, cried, screamed, even threw up with rage, and I saw something amazing, I caught a glimpse of what it is that inspires the greatest artists ever to have graced the earth with their talent, I saw ART itself dancing across the screen, a playful and passionate muse to my tender soul. Watch this film.
