Homeland Security

In 2004, Emmy Award-winning director Daniel Sackheim (NYPD BLUE, LAW & ORDER, THE X FILES) created a weekly television series that would dramatise the events surrounding the creation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. While the series never aired, the pilot episode has been repackaged as the two-hour movie HOMELAND SECURITY, which opens with a timeline of the bungled clues and warnings that preceded 9/11. After the attacks, the fictional character and Tom Ridge stand-in Admiral Theodore McKee (PICKET FENCES' Tom Skerritt) is called upon to create a new department that will coordinate information from the FBI, CIA, various branches of the military, and law enforcement agencies to prevent any such further terrorist acts in America. Leland Orser (SAVING PRIVATE RYAN), Grant Show(MELROSE PLACE), Scott Glenn (TRAINING DAY), and Kal Penn (HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE) co-star in this ripped-from-the-headlines telefilm that plays out like a real-life version of the Fox series 24.

It's not often that I can't stand to watch a film all the way through, but inspite of Glenn and Skerritt this one was ejected after about ten minutes. I... read more »

Ruffalo not on terror advisory list

    • 30 Nov 2010

U.S. officials have denied reports Mark Ruffalo has been placed on a terror advisory list after organising screenings for a new documentary about natural gas drilling. The Zodiac actor arranged showings for GasLand earlier this year (10) and voiced his concerns about the effects the practice is having on America's water supplies. He claimed his efforts to raise awareness and demand a stop to natural gas drilling attracted the attention of officials from Pennsylvania's Office of Homeland... Read more
