The title isn't the only thing this sequel almost shares with Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. The opening conceit is also similar, with an airport mix-up resulting in an accidental abandonment. However, with Shadow the retriever and Sassy the cat to help him, bulldog Chance isn't alone for long. Indeed, romance is soon in the air as our three heroes are befriended by a pack of street dogs. Ralph Waite admirably replaces the late Don Ameche as the sagacious voice of Shadow, but not all the casting is as felicitous: the decision to have strays voiced by African-American actors has unfortunate racist overtones.
A sequel, featuring animals with human voices and emotions, that treads much the same ground as its predecessor; enjoyable enough in its way, unless you like dumb animals.
Good family film, recommend to anyone.
Back to the extended family, re pets. Off again on another journey, lovely scenery, charming story and beautifully presented as always with a Disney title.
