superb............................

this film is superb. Wayne Szalinski (played by rick moranis) is convinced that he has figured out a way to shrink the size of matter.
It works great on paper, but he can't make it work in real life.
While he's at a conference presenting his ideas, the machine accidentally shrinks his children Amy and NIcky (played by Amy O'Neill and Robert Oliveri) , and his neighbour's children - Russell and Ron Thompson (played by Thomas Wilson Brown and Jared Rushton), to only a few inches tall .
When they get thrown out with the trash, they must journey across the backyard.
They meet up with a friendly ant, a killer scorpion, the danger of being chopped up by a lawnmower, and being drowned by a water sprinkler.
Meanwhile, Wayne and his wife try to fix the machine and find the kids, which lead to some very comical scenes.
Does Wayne fix the machine, and do the children make it home, so that they can be made back to their normal size?

Good even by todays standards
By olliemyers (71 reviews) from Yarm, England , 09 Dec 2012Excellent film. This is a classic film which I have never watched so I had to watch it when it came on the Instant collection. Even by todays standards the special effects are pretty decent. Kept me interested through out. The adventures the kids go on while they are shrunk are brill.- Was this review helpful to you?
