    Cute

Although this is the older version and only quite short, the whole family enjoyed it. Cute characters and well animated. Being short though meant it kept my daughters attention, and there are also some other stories on the disc which were equally as good.

Nicely done adaptations of Seuss stories

In anticipation for this year's release of Dr. Seuss' story Horton Hears A Who I decided to revisit the original short adaptation produced by Chuck Jones. The animation is quality Jones as you'd expect but what was amiss for me was the way how the characterisation hadn't aged as well as I remembered. That minor thing aside, it's a perfectly enjoyable romp through one of Theodore Geisel's best works even if the songs keep going ways you weren't expecting.

Letting the disc down though are three other animated stories of Dr. Seuss', two of note for being particularly unbearable in this reviewer's opinion with a typically ugly and tacky Merrie Melodies version of Horton Hatches The Egg and a fairly dry, low quality version of Daisy-Head Mayzie. The third story, The Butter Battle animated by Ralph Bakshi, is also a brilliant high point equalling that of the title film.

One to rent certainly but also one you'll be hunting in the bargain bins for after.

    Horton hears a who

I am regularly going to the cinema with my children and I have pretty much seen most of the recent children's films. This film is different- it is probably the best and most thought invoking children's film i have seen in a very long time. There is philosophy made digestible for children.Very recommendable - my children - and I loved it !
