House Formula Stales Quickly
By ROSS GERAGHTY from London , 14 Jan 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
Gnarly House MD faces the same trials, and solves them the same way, week in week out in this formulaic American series.
House will show us that he won't be pushed around by the hospital bosses, who seem insistent on making him do something he really doesn't want to do, namely help patients. He will belittle his three (three!) sidekicks, yet they will still adore and respect him.
Someone will come in with a seemingly untreatable disease, then someone else - usually a child - will come in to be treated by him during which he will realise the answer to the episode's main raison d'etre illness, and a lightbulb moment will occur.
All the time you keep expecting Hugh Laurie to burst into the costume of the Prince Regent in Blackadder 3 as his acting just isn't good enough to convince us. It's better than that of his dubious sidekicks, especially the English/Australian guy who is hopeless.
Pretty poor. Get Scrubs instead if you insist on indulging the never-ending fascination with hospital drama/comedy.- Was this review helpful to you?

No subtitles mean this is a non-starter
By cristatus (2 reviews) from Norwich , 15 Feb 2011House may or may not be a great series. The DVD is produced without subtitles, which means that millions of deaf or hard-of-hearing people can't enjoy it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Each week, the same
By coolblueshed (5 reviews) from Wellingborough , 14 Jun 2010It's not that House is woefully bad. It has tons of snappy dialogue and a great lead character nicely portrayed by Hugh Laurie. But when you get down to it, it's pretty basic formulaic TV. It doesn't take long for the episodes to become repetitive. And, of course, being American, it does tend to overdo the sentimentality.- Was this review helpful to you?

rubbish rubbish
By rabrab (2 reviews) from bristol uk , 25 Mar 2010the worst ever rubbish formulas and clever repetitive plots very repetitive and dull dull dull. come on you script writers - mind you the money must keep it going. So conned by this and wasted a whole evening. I feel that it is such a pity with such an opportunity for some fine plots and with such a good lead actor. Poor Poor Poor- Was this review helpful to you?

You know what is coming but it's still good!
By a customer from Newton Abbot , 19 Mar 2010A real addiction.
After a few episodes you get it, you know what's coming, but you still want to watch it.
House is eccentric, annoying, sarcastic but somehow you can't dislike him.
This took us completely by surprise and now we see why Hugh Laurie is still in the US making this series!
Much better than average tv
An unlikely must watch- Was this review helpful to you?
