Once again, curmudgeonly Dr. Geoffrey House has to diagnose various improbable illnesses, usually by taking ethically indefensible risks, and ably helped out by his implausibly good-looking team of diagnosticians-cum-researchers-cum-surgeons.
Having said all that, you know what you get with House MD, the plots are pretty much always the same, but what lifts it away from being samey early-afternoon TV fare is Hugh Laurie's performance as House. It's worth watching for that alone. It's strange to think that this is the same actor who played the Prince Regent in Blackadder 3, and Bertie Wooster in Jeeves and Wooster.
Anyway, for dumb, fairly brainless entertainment, you can't beat the soap-opera aspects of House. Highly recommended, probably not for anyone who might get annoyed by the ludicrous unrealism of the hospital working environment.
Brillaint series and a great first episode.
